Nashville Predators 3 Winnipeg Jets 1 – It was the Predators first regular season visit to Winnipeg and, with the help of some bounces, the Predators made it two-for-two so far on a three game road trip. . Nashville will play in Minnesota on Tuesday while the Jets close out their six-game home stand against Washington (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). The Jets and Preds then meet again Thursday in Nashville (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). There was no scoring in the first period despite the Jets outshooting Nashville 15-12. It was the first time this season the Jets outshot their opponent in the opening period. The Jets went on a power play early in the second, only to see Eric Nystrom score a short-handed goal for the Predators. Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien had a shot blocked by Nystrom on the play, creating a two-on-one for Nashville. It was the first shorthanded goal the Jets have allowed this season and the first Nashville has scored. The second period struggles continued for the Jets on Sunday night as Patric Hornqvist picked off an Ondrej Pavelec clearing attempt, fired the puck towards the net and had it go off the skates of Zach Bogosian and in, giving Nashville a 2-0 lead. Later in the period, and just seconds after the Jets killed off a penalty, Matt Cullen beat Pavelec up high to make it 3-0. The Jets have only scored three second period goals themselves all = season and were held without on Sunday. Evander Kane got the Jets on the board midway through the third period, netting his fifth of the season to make it 3-1 but thats as close as Winnipeg would get. Kane finished the game with 10 shots on goal, the second 10-shot game of his career. Unlike Friday there was no Jets comeback as Nashville goaltender Carter Hutton stopped 38-of-39 shots for his first NHL win. The Jets are now 4-5 on the season and 3-4 at home and Kane felt despite some bad bounces that the team needed a better effort. "You have to battle through, show some character," he said. Pavelec meanwhile had this to say after the game: "the way we play some nights. We cant be successful." As for Coach Claude Noel, he again cautioned about using the shots on goal to judge the game. "We got shots but we didnt create enough. We didnt battle to get the second shot," he said. "We didnt have enough A games from our group, at times we played just to play. You have to be more emotionally connected to the game." Byfuglien ended the night with seven shots on goal on a team high 27:18 of ice time. The Jets were without Jim Slater, Mark Stuart, Jacob Trouba and Chris Thorburn because of injuries, while Eric Tangradi was a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Devin Setoguchi, a healthy scratch Friday, was back in the lineup and assisted on the Kane goal. Adam Pardy, up from St. Johns, was very solid in 13:38 of ice time. Tuesday against Washington will be Hockey Fights Cancer Night. All Jets players will wear a special edition lavender Jets jersey during the pre-game warm up. Fans that purchased raffle tickets over the past number of home games will have a chance to win one of the jerseys. Tickets will be on sale at Tuesdays game. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. .com) - Pittsburgh Steelers running back LeVeon Bell, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Elvis Dumervil and New England Patriots punter Ryan Allen were selected as the AFCs top players for Week 14 of the NFL season. .S.-Portugal game on June 22 in the Amazonian jungle city of Manaus. FIFPro, the international soccer players union, had pressed FIFA to avoid the earliest kickoffs in the hottest and most humid weather. . Parmelee hit a game-ending shot in the ninth inning and the Minnesota Twins overcame David Ortizs big night to beat the Boston Red Sox 8-6 on Tuesday.MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Jamie McMurray bumped all eight of NASCARs championship contenders with a surprising pole-winning run Friday at Martinsville Speedway.McMurray, who did not qualify this year for the Chase for the Sprint Cup title, set a qualifying record with a lap of 99.905 mph to nudge the six championship-eligible drivers who had advanced with him into the final round of qualifying. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver felt he had a shot at the pole based on a strong test session with his team earlier this month. We made the car better throughout the test and hit on a couple of things that really had a lot of speed in it, so I was pretty excited about getting here this weekend, McMurray said. Our cars have been so quick the past two or three months. This is a great track for me, we had a really good test, and when things are going well, you get excited to come to the track.Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth, who are both in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship field, qualified second and third.Non-Chase driver Tony Stewart was fourth, followed by title contenders Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski. It was a terrible qualifying session for Kevin Harvick, who appeared to twice slap the wall and failed to advance out of the first round. Hell start 33rd on Sunday, worst of all the Chase drivers. We just missed it today, Harvick said in a statement distributed by his team. We were way too loose. We struggled in practice and just missed it in qualifying. We have to get better (Saturday) and be ready to go on Sunday. It was an uncharacteristically poor effort for the Stewart-Haas Racing entry. Harvick has a series-leading eight poles this season and is consistently one of the fastest cars each weekend. So to start near the back at the .526-mile paperclip puts him in a precarious pposition for the opening race of the third round of NASCARs Chase. The eight-driver field will be cut in half after three races, with the four remaining drivers scheduled to compete for the Sprint Cup title in the Nov. 16 finale at Homestead. A win in any of the next three earns a driver an automatic berth into the finale, so a fourth driver is guaranteed to make it on consistent finishes. But at a track as small as Martinsville, the leaders can lap the back of the field quickly and Harvick could be in trouble early.Ive been there and it aint no fun, said Brad Keselowski, who qualified sixth. But if you have a strong car and you can stay out of the early trouble, it doesnt seem to be too big of a hurdle.Keselowski teammate Logano said Harvick will have to race hard to avoid being lapped by the leader, but will also be stymied by traffic. When youre that far back, the inside lane just keeps checking up a lot into the corners and you can shove the nose in pretty quick there, Logano said. The next thing you know, youre in the back of a car. So I think that will probably be something youve got to be aware of, and obviously guys fighting to the bottom and the sense of urgency back there is very high, so youre not really saving any tires because youve got to go.Jeff Gordon, the defending race winner, was the next lowest qualifying Chase driver at 13th. He said Harvick will be fine if his car is good and he gets a long green-flag run.You have a fast race car and you get good, long green-flag runs, you can drive your way to the front, Gordon said. Youve just got to be real patient. Its a long race. As good as those guys have been all year long, I feel like theyll certainly be capable of running up in the front. But it makes it more (of a) challenge. Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
